Welcome to the Foss Collection

Welcome to the Foss Collection

Hi, happy new year and welcome to the first of my blogs where I introduce you to one of my core jewellery collections!

Today I’m talking about the Foss Collection since I can't think of a more appropriate time of year for it! I think you're gonna love these if you're into non-uniform, flowing shapes and are a little bit funky!

“Foss” is Icelandic for Waterfall, and these pieces were inspired by glaciers, frozen streams and icicles on overhanging rocks and trees. I wanted to try to recreate their smooth, organic shapes as each droplet is frozen, creating mesmerising, glistening landscapes. I love their curved, asymmetrical forms and how they shine in the light like clear glass.

Each piece in the Foss collection has been made by carefully dripping melted wax into the shape I wanted for the piece of jewellery I had in mind and then having a mould made of it so they can be replicated easily. Once they're cast in silver I finalise their form and then oxidise the recesses so exaggerate their unique shapes. Each piece is polished to a high shine to resemble the ice that inspired them.

The jewellery in some of these staged photographs don't look shiny though, as my photographer, Carla, made a setting of real ice which resulted in the jewellery frosting up from condensation which was a really unexpectedly cool effect which we wanted to keep. Each listing does have photographs of the fully shiny jewellery though, so as not to mislead, but if you prefer yours frosted I can create that finish on your jewellery for you - just leave a note in the cart when you check out!

My favourite piece in this collection is the Foss Circlet Ring and it’s also my best-seller. It's like a halo of ice and I can't get enough of it!

My future plans are to expand on this range by creating earrings resembling a single icicle, and a pendant to match. Is there something else you'd like to see in this collection?
